Accountability

strengthening legal, judicial, and institutional mechanisms to ensure compliance
with national laws and international human rights obligations

Our approach is grounded in international human rights principles and global standards on
rehabilitation, recognizing that recovery is not only medical, but also psychological, social,
and legal in nature.

Making Justice Happen: Our Approach

We conduct fact-finding missions and systematic documentation to identify human rights violations and preserve credible, admissible evidence. All documentation is carried out using victim-centred and trauma-informed methodologies, ensuring informed consent, confidentiality, and protection from re-traumatization while maintaining the ethical integrity and reliability of collected information.HRDC develops and submits legal analyses, shadow reports, and thematic submissions to national authorities and international human rights mechanisms, including treaty bodies and special procedures. We also monitor government commitments to international human rights standards, assess implementation gaps, and advocate for legal, policy, and institutional reforms. In collaboration with legal professionals, civil society partners, and survivor networks, HRDC supports legal aid, strategic litigation, and accountability pathways that pursue justice at both individual and systemic levels. By promoting transparency, strengthening the rule of law, and amplifying survivor voices, we work toward non-recurrence and long-term structural change.
