About The Project

Healing Communities, Restoring Hope

The Wellbeing Project, implemented in partnership with DIGNITY and financially supported by Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Denmark (DANIDA), aims to strengthen community-based Mental Health, Psychosocial Support (MHPSS), and rehabilitation services for survivors of the July 2024 Uprising in Bangladesh and their families.

During the uprising, widespread state violence against unarmed protesters caused over 1,400 deaths, thousands injured, and extensive trauma. Survivors continue to face grief, depression, anxiety, post-traumatic stress, and social withdrawal.

Despite growing recognition of mental health needs, Bangladesh suffers from a severe shortage of trained professionals, weak implementation of the National Mental Health Act (2018), and limited government services, leaving over 92% of people with mental health conditions untreated due to low awareness, stigma, and lack of affordable care.

Our Mission

Deliver comprehensive MHPSS to 25,000 survivors and families across seven sites, alongside 500 specialized MHPSS sessions with follow-up care.

Our Vision

By 2028, empower civil society to sustainably provide survivor-centered MHPSS, rehabilitation, and justice, fostering a resilient, inclusive, and rights-based post-uprising Bangladesh.
