Rehabilitation

Comprehensive, survivor-centred rehabilitation services for individuals
who have experienced torture, violence, and severe trauma.

Our approach is grounded in international human rights principles and global standards on
rehabilitation, recognizing that recovery is not only medical, but also psychological, social,
and legal in nature.

Basic Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS)

Basic MHPSS is implemented through a structured, survivor-centred, and community-based approach that ensures safety, dignity, and accessibility. Survivors are reached through community outreach, referrals, and self-referral, and services are provided in safe and confidential settings. Trained basic MHPSS providers deliver Psychological First Aid (PFA) to address immediate distress by offering emotional stabilization, active listening, practical support, and linkage to essential services. Supportive counseling and group-based sessions help survivors normalize trauma reactions, reduce isolation, and strengthen healthy coping skills without pressuring disclosure. Psychoeducation is provided in culturally appropriate ways to increase understanding of stress, trauma, and self-care, while social mobilization and community-based interventions promote peer support, social connectedness, and resilience. Survivors with more complex needs are identified through routine screening and referred to Specialized MHPSS, ensuring continuity of care. All services follow global MHPSS standards and trauma-informed principles, supported by regular supervision and ethical practice to safeguard survivor well-being.

Specialized Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS)

For survivors with complex and long-term needs, we offer Specialized MHPSS delivered by trained clinical psychologists, psychologists & mental health professionals. This includes trauma-focused psychotherapy, clinical assessment, treatment of conditions such as PTSD, depression, and anxiety, and ongoing therapeutic support. Moreover, we thoroughly conduct need based assessment & provide services through phone calls according to the survivors' needs. Our specialized services follow evidence-based and trauma-informed practices, ensuring confidentiality, informed consent, and survivor autonomy at every stage.

Global Standard on Rehabilitation

Our rehabilitation framework is aligned with multiple global standards, including the UN Convention Against Torture (UNCAT), the Istanbul Protocol, and international guidelines on torture rehabilitation. We adopt a holistic, multidisciplinary approach that integrates psychosocial care with medical support, legal referral, and social reintegration. Survivors are supported not only to heal from trauma, but also to restore dignity, rebuild livelihoods, and actively participate in family and community life.
