HRDC’s Internship Program provides hands-on experience for students and early-career professionals passionate about human rights, psychosocial support, and social justice.

The program equips them with the tools and confidence to pursue careers in human rights, legal advocacy, psychosocial support, research, and community development while making a tangible impact on the lives of torture survivors and vulnerable communities.

What Interns Can Expect

HRDC’s Internship Program is designed to provide meaningful, hands-on experience while supporting the professional growth and personal development of students and early-career professionals interested in human rights, psychosocial support, and social justice.

1. Practical Experience

Interns will actively participate in ongoing projects and programs. This includes:
● Assisting in rehabilitation services for survivors of torture and violence
● Supporting research, documentation, and reporting of human rights cases
● Contributing to community engagement initiatives and awareness campaigns
● Participating in advocacy & awareness programs where applicable

2. Capacity Building & Training

Interns will receive structured learning opportunities to strengthen their knowledge and skills:
● Workshops and training sessions on human rights standards, psychosocial support, paralegal, digital security, advocacy, and ethical practice
● Mentorship from HRDC staff and experts in the field
● Guidance on project management, reporting, and organisational procedures
● Exposure to international human rights frameworks and best practices

This ensures that interns leave the program with not just experience, but tangible, transferrable skills.

3. Professional Networking

Interns will have the opportunity to build meaningful professional relationships:
● Interact with HRDC staff, legal professionals, psychosocial experts, and community leaders
● Attend seminars, webinars, dialogues, and conferences where they can engage with national and international practitioners
● Develop a professional network that can support future career opportunities in human rights, law, psychology and social development

4. Personal Development & Wellbeing Awareness

Understanding the emotional demands of human rights work is a key part of the internship:
● Learn about stress management, vicarious trauma, and self-care
● Participate in reflective sessions and group discussions to process experiences
● Receive guidance on maintaining professional boundaries and ethical practice

This focus ensures that interns are prepared for the challenges of frontline work while protecting their own wellbeing.

5. Exposure to Future Career Opportunities

Interns who demonstrate strong performance and commitment may be considered for:
● Future employment or project placements within HRDC
● Letters of recommendation or professional references
● Opportunities to lead small initiatives or research as part of their professional portfolio

Eligibility & Requirements

Educational Qualification

Final year/master's students, recent graduates, and early-career professionals interested in human rights, legal advocacy, psychosocial support, research, or community development.

Language Proficiency

Language Proficiency Bangla & English (reading, writing, speaking)

Duration

3–6 months (flexible based on project needs)

Stipend

Paid/Unpaid depending on project and funding availability. (T/A will be provided for field visits)
